The Senior Department
Entry is by audition only. The Senior Department offers high quality tuition and performance experience, in an inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere, to gifted musicians eager to study music within higher education or achieve their full potential on their chosen instrument.
Learning and experience is gained through a variety of mediums, including:
- Master classes
- Workshops
- Technique sessions
- Choral training
- Chamber music
- Musicianship
The group is highly aspirational. Every year students achieve places at top national music colleges and universities.
Prima Corda
Prima Corda is the most advanced ensemble from Gloucester Academy of Music. Entry is by audition only, for players of at least grade 8 standard who come from Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties. They perform several times a year throughout the area with different musical directors and have represented England at International Music Festivals in Tuscany and Switzerland. Many members of Prima Corda go on to study their instrument at Music College or university.
