The Senior Department
GAM Senior department offers tuition at Intermediate, Senior and Advanced levels.
Sinfonia, a mixed ensemble of strings and wind for Grade 5 to 8+ adults and students, meets on Monday
evenings ( 1.5 hours).
GAMTO (Gloucester Academy of Music Training Orchestra) is a new initiative starting in September 2011.
Full orchestra rehearsals at Sir Thomas Rich school on Thursday evenings, for students Grade 4- 6.
Intermediate Wind Ensemble for Grades 4-6.
Monday evenings (1 hour).
Guitar Orchestra - this is another new initiative for September 2011.

Please not that none of the above sessions require assessments or auditions, but the following do:
Senior String Course: Grades 5-6 Monday evening - a package of 3.25 hours tuition.
Advanced String Course: Grades 7-8+ Monday evening - a package of 3.5 hours tuition.
These courses include technique sessions, chamber music, musicianship, workshops, master classes, and
opportunities to play in concerts.
Students attending these courses are highly aspirational and the courses are designed so that maximum potential
can be achieved.
High quality tuition and performance opportunities are provided in an inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere.
Many go on to study at top national music colleges and universities.
Although it is recommended that students attend the whole set of sessions that
make up the Senior or Advanced packages, it is also possible to 'pick-and-mix' from the following where
students may be attending elsewhere as well:
- Senior or Advanced String technique (1 hour)
- Senior or Advanced Chamber music (1 hour)
- Senior String Ensemble (1 hour)
- Advanced String Ensemble - Prima Corda (1.5 hours)
Prima Corda
Prima Corda is the most advanced string ensemble of Gloucester Academy of Music. Entry is by audition only, attracting players from Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties. They perform several times a year throughout the area with different musical directors and have represented England at International Music Festivals in Tuscany and Switzerland. Many members of Prima Corda go on to study their instrument at Music College or university.
