October Half Term

Gloucestershire Academy of Music will be closed from the 20th October for Half Term and will re-open on Monday 2nd November. We wish all of our students a relaxing half term break.

Perform with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

Young string players invited to join the professionals

The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra are coming to town and are inviting over 100 young string players to join them including Gloucester Academy of Music's Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Advanced Strings groups.

Together they will rehearse and perform Fiddler’s Hill by Jeff Moore. Jeff’s work brings string players together and is designed to be performed by string players from beginner to professional. This event is open to young people from across the county, whether you are already involved in an ensemble or not. Click here to watch the launch video to find out more


Come and join one of our 2016 Music Holiday Courses!

We have our Bow It & Blow It courses on the 4th to 6th April followed by a whole schedule of courses throughout the summer including a Singing Weekend, Junior Orchestra Course, Senior Orchestra Course, Jazz, Rock, Pop & Soul and a whole week dedicated to Grade 5 Theory.

For our adult musicians we offer an Adult Chamber Weekend & an Adult Bow It course in April followed by an Early Music Course for Early Music enthusiasts in the Summer.

Gloucester Academy of Music Perform at Cheltenham Town Hall

Gloucester Academy of Music Training Orchestra and Gloucester Academy of Music Junior Strings were very pleased to be invited to perform at Cheltenham Town Hall as part of the Music for Youth Regional Festival. The festival takes the form of a competition with 'winning' ensembles invited to take part in the National Music for Youth festival and perform at Birmingham Symphony Hall. Watch this space.......

Bursary Applications Available Now

The ‘Gloucester Academy of Music’ Bursary fund is available to all students up to the age of 18 years at the beginning of the academic year being applied for. Although financial circumstances are taken into consideration, all applications are considered on an individual basis also taking into account the students aptitude for music making.

New and existing students can apply at any time of the year for assistance with term-time fees, and/or those to attend a holiday music courses with Gloucester Academy of Music. The application forms can be requested from our office or downloaded by clicking here. All applications should be returned in a sealed envelope marked 'Confidential' and addresssed to 'The Bursary Committee.

Monday Prima Corda Advanced String Ensemble

Gloucester Academy of Music Prima Corda String Ensemble meet from 6.30pm until 8.00pm each Monday evening. The ensemble is suitable for any string player of grade 7 standard and above. Email to find out more about joining!

Our Popular GAM sessions now available in Cheltenham

Gloucester Academy of Music now offers a Junior department in Gloucester on a Saturday morning and in Cheltenham on a Saturday afternoon.

In Cheltenham we offer a 2pm Scutterbug Pre School Singing & Rhythm session and a 2pm Singing & Rhythm Session for Primary School aged children. At 2.45pm we offer two String Groups (String Starters and Grades 1 to 3) followed by a String Ensemble at 3.30pm for Grades 3 to 5.

Schools Music Agency

In addition to offering a full range of Instrumental Lessons at our Westgate premises, GAM continues to offer instrumental tuition for individuals and small groups in Gloucestershire primary schools. We are delighted to be in partnership with the Cheltenham Music Festival for this venture which like all of our work is not for profit. More details can be found HERE.
